David Bowie on the Lack of Black Artists on MTV, circa 1983

Fascinating. We've come along way -- but not far enough -- from those days. Still, we get why Kanye West might go ballistic at Taylor Swift beating Beyoncé for an MTV Video award, if not why he did it in such a rude, wildly crazy, non-productive way. Here's what Bowie -- as close to a musical god as it gets -- had to say about black artists and MTV in 1983:
