This is a silent film, with a recreation of what San Francisco's Market Street would have sounded like, taken on April 14, 1906, four days before the Great Earthquake. It's captivating. If you watch until the end, you'll see shots of the street after the devastation. Amazing stuff.
What a great bit of history, especially for those of us who think of San Francisco as our home city. In fact, Bay Area residents call it The City.
